YLS UMJ Scholarship Selection Enters Phase II

 Candidates who received the flagship Youth Leader Scholarship, University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (YLS UMJ) Class of 2023 took part in the second phase of selection on the 4th floor of the UMJ Business Center Building, on Monday (04/09/2023). 

These 15 candidates are high school graduates and equivalent who have passed the first stage of selection, which includes selecting diploma files, certificates as Chair/Secretary of IPM, OSIS, MPK or other student organizations, and also writing essays.

Meanwhile, in the second phase of the selection, the scholarship recipients took an Academic Potential Test (TPA), a Qur'an reading test, and also an interview.

In the interview selection, they were interviewed directly by the Chancellor of UMJ, Prof. Dr. Ma'mun Murod, M.Sc., and Vice Rector IV, Dr. Septa Candra, MH., at the 

On that occasion, the Chancellor of UMJ gave instructions to all selection participants, if they were accepted as YLS UMJ students, to become students who were different from other students.

“YLS UMJ students must be different from other students. "Stand out in academics and all available events," said Ma'mun.

This is the second year for UMJ holding the YLS program. The previous year UMJ provided and distributed these excellent scholarship funds to 25 students spread across various faculties.

 “In my opinion, this program is running well in all aspects. "The scholarship recipients are in line with the objectives of YLS, the coaching program is good, the achievements made by YLS students are also good," added Deputy Chancellor IV, Dr. Septa, when questioned after the second phase of the selection process.

Septa hopes that this program can continue and that YLS students can continue to show their qualities as future young leaders. "For the class that will join, I hope that they will have a commitment to carrying out all existing development programs, because that is what differentiates YLS students compared to other students," he added.

The UMJ YLS program provides scholarships covering tuition fees, monthly pocket money, and housing. Apart from that, scholarship recipients have the opportunity to take part in intensive training, namely Qur'an Intensive Class, Leadership Intensive Class, Public Speaking Intensive Class, and Writing Intensive Class .
